About Mt. Washington Day Trip
Join us as we make our way 2 hours north of Nanaimo to visit Mount Washington Alpine Resort where we will spend the day snow tubing! If you are keen to challenge yourself further - get yourself geared up for a ski/snowboard lesson and hit the slopes! The Mountain has a wide variety of downhill terrain ranging from beginner to expert.
Pricing
We have created six different pricing packages based on the varying needs of each individual.
- Package #1 ($60) - Tubing ONLY - includes 2 rounds of 1 hour long snow tubing sessions and round-trip transportation
- Package #2 ($200) - Lesson + Rentals - includes ski/snowboard lesson, lift pass, rentals (skis/board, boots, poles) and round-trip transportation (ideal for beginners)
- Package #3 ($225) - Ski/Snowboard & Tubing - includes ski/snowboard lesson, lift pass, rentals (skis/board, boots, poles) , 2 rounds of 1 hour long snow tubing sessions , and round-trip transportation
- Package #4 ($160) - No Lesson + Rentals - includes lift pass, rentals (skis/board, boots, poles), and round-trip transportation (ideal for experienced skiers/boarders who do not wish to have a lesson)
- Package #5 ($100) - No Lesson - includes lift pass and round-trip transportation (ideal for participants who own their own gear and are proficient downhill skiers/boarders)
- Package #6 ($40) - Round-trip transportation ONLY (for those with gear and lift pass)
*Please note: Packages 4-6 MUST be approved by Cultural Connections staff. Skiers who do not wish to have a lesson MUST prove that they have skied/boarded big mountain terrain in the past
**It is MANDATORY to wear a helmet if you are skiing or snowboarding with Cultural Connections - if you do not own one - you will be required to rent one prior to receiving your lift pass
What to wear
- Bring clothes for warm and cold weather
- A warm sweater and a warm jacket (waterproof jacket if possible)
- Warm pants (if you have waterproof pants you may want to bring them)
- Appropriate footwear (winter boots)
- A toque or warm hat
- Ski goggles (if you have some)
- Gloves or mitts
- Helmet (if skiing or snowboarding) - MANDATORY
What to bring:
- A change of clothes and shoes for the bus ride home
- Water bottle
- Snacks and lunch (of money for food)
- Money for shopping or additional rental equipment
- A small camera

Trip Includes:
Round-trip transportation, the rest varies depending on what package is purchased

How to Sign Up
Our activities are available to all current VIU Students. Sign up with us in person in Building 255.
You will need to have your:
- Student card,
- Proof of medical insurance (BC Care Card or Guard.me Insurance Policy)
- Payment (cash is currently the only method of payment for activities)
Hours & Locations for Signing Up with us:
Faculty of International Education Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm in Building 255, Second Floor Reception
Lunchtime Activity Information Desk Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 – 1 pm in Building 255 - First Floor Commons
Waiver Form
Please read our general waiver form for VIU group activities in the attachment section below. All participants are required to read and sign the waiver before the start of the trip. We will provide a paper copy for you to read through again and sign the morning of the trip.
